Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and is a unique place on Earth. There is no such island like this. Its dark mysterious past, the history of Mafia made difficulties in tourism for a long time. "Mafia" is an Arabic word, meant refuge, when the Sicilians hid from Arabs and Normands. Nowadays more and more tourists visit the country and discover their own Sicily. If you are on the island, you will meet the famous symbol of Sicily, 'trinacria' which is also an ancient name for Sicily. The symbol depicts the head of a woman from which three human legs are folded at the knee. It is also a geographic character, having the shape of the island, and the three province, moreover it refers to sun and fertility. Sicily's golden magnificent beaches, the dramatic hills, the Mount Etna and the abundance of archeological sites are attractions that can be explored individually.
Szicília a Földközi-tenger legnagyobb szigete, és egyedülálló hely a világon. Nincs még egy ehhez hasonló sziget. Sötét rejtélyes múltja, a Maffia történelme sokáig gátat szabott a túrizmusnak. A "Mafia" arab eredetű szó a menedékhelyet jelentette, amikor a szicíliaiak rejtőztek az arabok és normannok elől. Mára már egyre több turista látogatja az országot és fedezi fel a saját Szicíliáját. Ha a szigeten jársz, akkor meg fogod ismerni Szicília híres szimbólumát, amely Szicília szintén egy ókori elnevezése. A szimbólum egy szárnyas női fejet ábrázol, amelyből három láb nő ki, melyek a térdnél behajlanak. A szimbólum földrajzilag is értelmezhető, mely a sziget alakját és a három provinciát formázza, továbbá a napkorongra és a termékenységre utal. Szicília aranyló varázslatos tengerpartjai, drámai hegyei, az Etna és régészeti látnivalóinak bősége olyan vonzerők, melyeket egyénileg is felfedezhetsz.
